St Mary’s sweeps public speaking competition
POSTED March 10 2023 , News
On 9 March, 25 girls from Years 7 to 9 visited our brother school, Hale, to compete in our annual Hale St Mary’s Public Speaking Competition.
The students chose to speak on one of four topics: ‘What the world could do without’, ‘Kindness is the key’, ‘What human quality do we need more of and why’ and ‘Real learning doesn’t occur in a classroom’.
Our students spoke eloquently and we are pleased to report that they achieved a clean sweep of the competition! Three of our girls, Rachel (Year 8), Isabella (Year 9) and Maheen (Year 9), also walked away with top speaking accolades.
Thank you to the following students and Old Girls who assisted with co-judging alongside several Hale students: Lilia, Anya and Jaime (Year 12) and Senuri Warusawithana (’22) and Menaaz Khan (’22).
