Sophie wins national storytelling award

Congratulations to Year 12 student, Sophie, who won the Young Adult Prose section of the recent Laura Literary Award for her short story, Stolen.

The judges were glowing in their review of Sophie’s story: “A highly sophisticated re-imagining of a well-known fairy tale blended with the reality of the Stolen Generation. Told with empathy for all characters, this writing impressed the judges with its metaphors and language.”

The judges added that Sophie should explore publishing her short story because it would make a great children’s book.
