What makes boarding at St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School so special?

For Year 9 student, Amy Hope, it is a combination of the ‘sisterhood’ and support within the boarding house coupled with the school’s vibrant and varied recreation program.

“St Mary’s boarders are some of the best people that I have met and our Head of Boarding, Mrs Douglas, and her staff are just so incredibly welcoming and comforting,” Amy said.

“Our recreation program is great, too. We socialise with a boys’ school almost every weekend, which means we get to see all our mates from back home and meet new friends. We also usually do a fun activity, ranging from roller skating to attending sporting events or heading to the beach.

“Boarding at St Mary’s is one of the best things I have ever done in my life.”

Year 8 student, Cameron Whyte, is thankful for the assistance provided by St Mary’s boarding house tutors.

“Every night, we have access to tutors, who help us with our homework,” Cameron said.

“We can also book specialist tutors if we need extra help in a subject.”

Isabel Sawyer relishes living with girls who share her passion for farming.

The Year 9 student also loves that her teachers encourage her interest agriculture.

“Our teachers know all the boarders and understand their backgrounds,” Isabel said.

“I recently applied my farming knowledge to present an Environmental Science project on the way that aphids impact canola growth. I really enjoyed that.”
