In a heart-warming display of holiday spirit and entrepreneurial prowess, our Year 5 students recently concluded their Term 4 inquiry-based learning project with a Christmas Fair that captured the essence of the season while supporting a charitable cause.

Under the guidance of their dedicated teachers, these young entrepreneurs – armed with lessons in product development, branding, advertising, budgeting and sales – embraced the challenge of creating a business stall to sell sustainable Christmas gifts.

The culmination of their efforts took shape at the Christmas Fair, where parents, staff and fellow students gathered in support. The air was filled with anticipation and goodwill as the young business minds proudly presented their array of eco-friendly and meticulously crafted gifts.

The fair buzzed with excitement as attendees eagerly perused the offerings, each purchase a testament to the students’ dedication to both their inquiry project and the environment. With smiles and enthusiasm, the students managed to surpass expectations, raising an impressive sum exceeding $3000 through their sales.

The most touching aspect of this achievement? The students’ decision to donate all profits to the Starlight Children’s Foundation, a charitable organisation supporting children facing illness and adversity.

The joyous atmosphere was palpable, and the sense of accomplishment radiated from the students. Their initiative not only showcased their business acumen but also their deep compassion for those in need.

The Christmas Fair was not just a culmination of their learning journey; it was a celebration of generosity and community spirit. These young minds, with their innovative ideas and boundless enthusiasm, proved that age is no barrier to making a significant impact.
