Creative students honour centenarians

Congratulations to Year 12 students Megan and Portia on being selected for the National Finale Exhibition for the Centenarian Portrait Project!

The Centenarian Portrait Project is an uplifting initiative that paired teenage artists with local centenarians. Through storytelling, reminiscing, joy and laughter, the young artists produced portraits of their subjects and, following local exhibitions, gifted them to their new, 100-year-old friends.

Megan and Portia’s portraits will be one of 100 project artworks exhibited in Canberra later this year.

Three other St Mary’s students – Year 11s Anrui, Marylou and Nina – also contributed to the special project, and all five girls’ works were recently exhibited in the Wilkinson Gallery at the Claremont Showgrounds.
