Developing skills for life at Rottnest

POSTED October 28 2024 , News, Senior School

A group of our Year 10 students recently embarked on an unforgettable five-day outdoor education expedition to Rottnest Island, taking on exciting challenges as part of their journey toward the Bronze or Silver Duke of Edinburgh WA Award.

The expedition offered a mix of adventure and personal growth, with activities designed to test resilience and build essential life skills. Students explored the island’s stunning marine life through snorkeling, took on scenic hikes, tried their hand at night fishing, and experienced the magic of stargazing. A Welcome to Country ceremony provided a meaningful cultural moment, while a high-energy Amazing Race challenge added a touch of thrill to their journey.

In addition to these adventures, each student successfully completed their final practical assessment for their First Aid Certificate, equipping them with valuable skills for life. The expedition not only brought new experiences but also strengthened their confidence and teamwork—key elements of the Duke of Edinburgh Award program.
