Innovative Literacy and Numeracy Programs

We wholeheartedly believe that when we know better, we do better. That is why our experienced Kindergarten to Year 2 teachers deliver the latest evidence-based literacy and numeracy programs to ensure that every student has an opportunity to discover their best.

Little Learners Love Literacy

The Little Learners Love Literacy program is an evidence-based teaching methodology that focuses on the six most important pillars of reading, writing and spelling: oral language, phonemic awareness, systematic synthetic phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension.

The system uses a series of books that children love to read. The books are carefully sequenced to match the program’s teaching scope and sequence, and they only use the sounds and letters that students have been explicitly taught, which allows our students to apply their learning and build their reading confidence.

Bond Blocks

Bond Blocks is an evidence-based system of ready-to-go, sequenced resources designed to build early years students’ counting and calculating skills.

The award-winning program – developed by experienced teacher, Narelle Rice, and renowned Western Australian mathematics education consultant, Dr Paul Swan – supplements our robust teaching programs and structures how students develop their counting and number awareness skills.

Our Academic Centre of Enrichment staff are adamant that Bond Blocks had changed the way that St Mary’s Kindergarten to Year 2 students understand maths.

They have seen evidence that this program is helping to provide the missing link which helps students move from concretely counting by ones to abstractly adding using numbers and symbols. We have been excited to witness the growing confidence of our students thanks to Bond Blocks. it is providing them with ways of explaining their mathematical thinking.
