Academic Scholarships
Year 7
Academic Scholarships are offered for part remission of tuition for the six years of secondary schooling. The scholarships are open to all students commencing Year 7 in 2026.
Historically, students who have been awarded an Academic Scholarship have achieved a rating of Exceeding (formerly referred to as Band 8 or above) in at least four of the assessment categories in their Year 5, 7 or 9 NAPLAN results.
The PB Arney Scholarship is awarded to the student who achieves the highest mark based on results in the scholarship exam and school reports while in Year 5. It is offered for part remission of tuition for each of the final six years of secondary schooling.
The Marlene Carter Old Girls’ Association Scholarship offers part remission of tuition and is open to daughters and granddaughters of financial Life Members of the Old Girls’ Association who will be students in Year 7 in 2026. This scholarship is for Year 7 only.
Year 8
Academic Scholarships are offered for part remission of tuition for each of the remaining five years of secondary schooling. The scholarships are open to all students commencing Year 8 in 2026.
Historically, students who have been awarded an Academic Scholarship have achieved a rating of Exceeding (formerly referred to as Band 8 or above) in at least four of the assessment categories in their Year 5, 7 or 9 NAPLAN results.
The Hon. I Viner AO QC Scholarship is awarded to the student who achieves the highest mark based on results in the scholarship exam and recent school reports.
Year 9
Academic Scholarships are offered for part remission of tuition for each of the final four years of secondary schooling. The scholarships are open to all students commencing Year 9 in 2026.
Historically, students who have been awarded an Academic Scholarship have achieved a rating of Exceeding (formerly referred to as Band 8 or above) in at least four of the assessment categories in their Year 5, 7 or 9 NAPLAN results.
The Mr RG Gibson Scholarship is awarded to the student who achieves the highest mark based on results in the scholarship exam and recent school reports.
Year 10
Academic Scholarships are offered for part remission of tuition for each of the final three years of secondary schooling. The scholarships are open to all students commencing Year 10 in 2026.
Historically, students who have been awarded an Academic Scholarship have achieved a rating of Exceeding (formerly referred to as Band 8 or above) in at least four of the assessment categories in their Year 5, 7 or 9 NAPLAN results.
Year 11
Academic Scholarships are offered for part remission of tuition for each of the final two years of secondary schooling. The scholarships are open to all students commencing Year 11 in 2026.
Historically, students who have been awarded an Academic Scholarship have achieved a rating of Exceeding (formerly referred to as Band 8 or above) in at least four of the assessment categories in their Year 5, 7 or 9 NAPLAN results.
The Ethel Beaton Old Girls’ Association Scholarship offers part remission of tuition. It is open to daughters and granddaughters of financial Life Members of the Old Girls’ Association who will be Year 11 students in 2026. The scholarship is for both Year 11 and Year 12.
Scholarship requirements
to qualify for these scholarships, applicants are required to:
- complete the online scholarship registration at www.stmarys.wa.edu.au/scholarships by Wednesday 5 February 2025;
- sit the scholarship exam held at St Mary’s on Saturday 15 February 2025; and
- if shortlisted, attend an interview with the Principal and a member of the Executive in March 2025.
If your daughter is not currently enrolled at St Mary’s, the following documents must be uploaded to the registration website on or before Wednesday 5 February 2025 (Friday 31 January 2025 for Remote and Overseas registrations):
- Semester 2, 2024 school reports;
- most recent NAPLAN results; and
- photo ID.

Scholarship amounts
The scholarship amount is determined by St Mary’s and is not open to negotiation. It represents part remission of tuition fees, typically between 25% and 50% of the total tuition fee.
